Biography

Sheron has been a professional musician, sound engineer and music producer for over 25 years.

Born in 1973 and originally from Israel he immigrated to South Africa in 1995.  After having solidified his presence as a working musician within local musical circles, the name Sheron has become synonymous with talent, musical diversity and respect but above all the level of professionalism he offers to South African music industry.

Here’s his Story…

Sheron started his musical career at the young age of 9; the first instrument he learnt to play was the piano. At 14 he stumbled across a drum kit and fell in love with the drums.

He then joined a band, made up of some friends at school, who wrote and performed their original music, along with some Police & Guns & roses covers. The band played throughout high school at different shows and clubs, and recorded demo songs at a friend’s home recording studio.

During his Israeli army service, and after a leg injury which left him unable to play the drums for a few months, Sheron tried his luck with the Guitar.
At this point he soon realized that his life was about to change dramatically, as he fell in love with the instrument.  Once he had mastered it, he then carried on to play it on a professional level for the following 17 years.

In 1995, after the last of his army service, and after working for 2 years in the largest chain of music gear stores in Israel known as Kley Zemer/ internationally recognised as RBX, Sheron decided to immigrate to South Africa.

He quickly found his feet and established himself as a musician amongst the local artists by playing with cover and original bands such as Legacy, Tidal Creed and Amersham.

By the end of 1996 he had formed his own cover band called X-Over (Cross-Over), who proved to be a huge success in South Africa as well as abroad. The band also recorded a number of Sheron’s original music and performed it from time to time at live gigs. However, after having played all but 3000 live shows during their 8 year run, they decided to split up in mid 2004.

Since then Sheron has played with, and for, many artists and bands such as Watershed, Albert De Wet, Gerhard Steyn, Ghapi and many more whilst still playing around the country as a solo artist. A detailed list of bands and artists can be viewed in the History page.

Currently, Sheron is recording his debut album out of his Pretoria studio. The album, which will be self written and produced, is expected for release towards the end of 2012. The album will consist of a “basket of favorites” - original and cover songs re-worked and arranged to suite Sheron’s style of playing and singing.

Apart from stage performances, Sheron is also a professional sound engineer and music producer who has produced and written music for various artists. He has also been hired as a live sound engineer for many bands and artists over the years.
